community baptism faq
our baptism theology
Baptism is a public confession of our faith by immersion, post-conversion. Jesus was baptized, he commanded his followers to be baptized, and told us to baptize others who follow him. The Greek word “baptizo” is the word used for baptism and means “immersion.” Baptism by immersion is a symbol of the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. We baptize in the name of Jesus Christ because the Apostles baptized in His name (Acts 2:38; 8:16; 10:48; 19:5).
Is the baptism class required?
Yes. Before getting baptized, we ask everyone to watch a short video that explains the meaning and purpose of baptism. It’s an important step to help you understand what baptism represents and why it matters in your faith journey.
This 20-minute video will cover:
-
Understand the meaning of baptism – What it represents and why it matters.
-
Explore the biblical foundation – What Scripture teaches about baptism.
-
Know what to expect – Practical details about the baptism process.
-
Ask any questions – Get clarity and guidance from church leaders.
This short but important session will help you approach your baptism with confidence, understanding, and a deeper commitment to your faith.
where will the baptisms take place?
Baptisms will be held immediately following our Sunday worship service on 4/27 in a pool located right outside. We encourage all participants to attend the service to ensure you are present and prepared for the baptism ceremony afterward.
Our Sunday gathering begins with prayer at 12:15 PM, followed by our worship service at 12:30 PM.
📍 Location: 850 N Cahuenga Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90038
what should I wear?
If you ordered a baptism shirt, please plan to wear it on the day of your baptism. We ask all baptism participants to wear all-black clothing for the ceremony. This ensures a uniform and respectful appearance. For comfort and modesty, we recommend wearing a black t-shirt, athletic shorts, swim trunks, or leggings. Avoid light-colored or see-through fabrics.
What should I bring?
Please bring a towel and a change of clothes for after the baptism. If needed, changing facilities will be available.
can my kids get baptized?
Yes! If your child is old enough to understand and clearly communicate the Gospel of Jesus Christ highlighted below, they are welcome to be baptized:
-
We are all sinners in need of a Savior (Romans 3:23).
-
Jesus Christ, the Son of God, died for our sins and rose again, offering us forgiveness and eternal life (John 3:16, Romans 5:8).
-
Through faith in Jesus, we are saved and made new (Ephesians 2:8-9, 2 Corinthians 5:17).
-
Baptism is an act of obedience that symbolizes being buried with Christ in His death and raised to new life with Him (Romans 6:4).
If your child can articulate their personal faith in Jesus and understands the significance of baptism, they are ready to take this next step!
